What is USTA Next Generation and Tennis on Campus?

Are there USTA leagues that younger players can join? The answer is YES!

We recorded three episodes with Liz Murrieta (Manager, National Championships / National League Administrator) and Elicia Smith (Coordinator of USTA Leagues with USTA Nationals) because they had so much great information for us and were fun to talk to!

In this episode, we talk about USTA Next Generation and Tennis on Campus progams. It’s all about a younger generation of tennis players and how USTA is helping to create more opportunities for them to play. The average age of a USTA players is 50. Players that are in college or just out of college are looking for tennis players of similar age.

Elicia tells us about her role overseeing the Next Generation USTA program for 18-39 year olds.

Elicia coordinates “Tennis on Campus” which is near and dear to her heart. She played in her Tennis on Campus program for four years while attending Florida State University. Tennis on Campus is a program that allows college students to participate in tennis during their college years. It often shapes their whole college experience! Tennis on Campus includes every level of play from beginners (NTRP 2.5) to players that could have played D1 but decided to attend a school for academics vs. playing a sport for a college. You can even go to a National Championship playing in a Tennis on Campus program!
