We are thrilled to have Brian Rosenthal back on the podcast for “Raleigh Pro League with Brian Rosenthal – Part Two”. Brian is the Raleigh Pro League’s newest Director. The Raleigh Pro League had its first match last week with Team Sue Greer and Team White Dahlia taking victories in week 1 of action. The full 2023 schedule can be found below.

Brian’s Tennis Background

Brian was a top-ten junior in Florida and trained at the Rick Macci Tennis Academy with Andy Roddick and both Williams’ sisters. While Brian was at the Rick Macci Tennis Academy, he played (and beat) Andy Roddick and Serena Williams. He said that sounds cool until he tells the story about how he was several years older than they were. He still claims that those years were the best years of his life and cherishes the memories.

After his successful junior career, he went on to play for NC State University and started a tennis management company called RDUTennis in 2007.

Finding His Way Back to Competing

After Brian’s long childhood and college career as a tennis player, he quit playing (right after his last NCAA match vs. Duke University). He started playing golf but after having two children, his wife wasn’t happy with Brian being gone for 6+ hours a day. She encouraged him to pick up his tennis racquet again.

In 2016 he started hitting with friends and getting more comfortable on a court again. By 2017 he started playing in the Raleigh Pro League (RPL). Brian said he found the love to compete again when he started playing in front of crowds (which sometimes were bigger than college crowds).
